Once
upon a time vibrators were designed for external stimulation while dildos
were designed for internal stimulation. Now that the manufacturers
have very expansive adult toy lines you have dildos that vibrate and vibrators
that are insertable. When purchasing a vibrator your first consideration
needs to be if you are going to use it for internal or external stimulation.
External
Stimulation
If
the answer is external stimulation - then the next question is what areas
of the body do you want to stimulate? Women can use vibrators
to stimulate their breasts, clitoris, vulva, vagina and anus. Men can use
vibrators to stimulate their penis and anus. Couples use vibrators together
to enhance the pleasure of sexual intimacy. Electric
vibrators - the "Wand Variety" are great for massaging all parts of the
body. If you are going to buy one all purpose external vibrator we
recommend the "Hatachi Magic Wand" with attachments.
It is well constructed - will last a long time, comes with a warranty and
is the cadillac of external vibrators. The downside to this vibrator
is that it is more costly than a battery operated vibrator and is less
portable. The benefit of a battery powered vibrators is their ability
to be used anywhere but they will not give as strong a vibration
in comparison. You can judge the amount of vibration output of a battery
powered vibrator by the number and size of batteries required. A vibrator
that takes two C batteries will be stronger than one that takes only AA
batteries. Also, plug-in vibrators always operate at full capacity while
battery powered vibrators tend to slow down as the batteries drain.
If you want a portable battery operated external vibrator we recommend
the "Pocket
Rocket".
If
you want to focus on a specific area of the body for external stimulation
then consider a "Nipple Stimulator" for the breast
area. If you want to stimulate the clitoral area, it is not necessary to
purchase a special vibrator as most any vibrator that is put in contact
with that area will work. Some "Clitoral
Vibrators" are designed to be worn during intercourse and the
"Remote Control Vibrators" have lots of fun
possibilities. For men the external vibrators available are either
vibrating rings or vibrating sleeves.
Internal
Stimulation
The
most important thing in the selection of an internal vibrator is to fine
what is right for you. As in all cases of adult toys, personal preference
is all that really matters.
Vaginal
Penetration
There
are two basic versions of a vaginal vibrator - the kind that are smooth
or the realistic which resembles a penis. The size of a vaginal vibrator
varies from 4 to 10 inches with the diameter varying from the size of a
lipstick tube up to 2 inches. The average vibrator is about 7 inches
long and approximately 1 and a quarter inches in diameter. If this
is your first vibrator we recommend you start with an inexpensive model
like "The Classic"
which has been around for years. It is made of hard plastic and will
give you the chance for experimentation without a drain on the budget.
Other models that you might consider are the "Slims"
which are the same in length but as the name implies a thinner version
of the Classic. In addition to hard plastic, cylindrical vibrators
are manufactured in other materials and designer colors - "Jelly
Vibrators" (which warms up to body temperature), "Silicone"
(which is used for waterproof vibrators) "Rubber"
(mostly available in body colors) and Acrylic
(which are quite glamorous).
If your prefer
something that resembles an actual penis then "The
Realistic" is where you should be looking. Most realistics are manufactured
from rubber but the newest technological advancement for adult toys is
Cyberskin. This is the absolute
closest you can get to real skin.
Cylindrical vibrators
also have attachments called "Vibrator Sleeves"
which will allow you to change the shape and texture of the vibrator. They
can range anywhere from "French Ticklers" to fun Glow-In-The-Dark" toys.
Vaginal
- Clitoral Stimulation
The
most popular women's vibrators are the vaginal-clitoral stimulators.
They have combined technology to stimulate the vaginal and clitoral areas
at the same time. The "Ultimate
Beaver"
and the "Waterproof
Rabbit" are our most popular models.
There
is also an upgrade which is the pearl version. These have the normal stimulators
plus pearls packed together in the shaft which create additional orgasmic
stimulation. Check out the "Jack
Rabbit", the "Pearl
Butterfly" and the "Pearl
Panther".
G-Spot
It
is impossible for a woman to stimulate her G-Spot by herself and the "G-Spot
Vibrator" has been designed for just this job. The G-Spot Vibrator
is a cylindrical vibrator with a curve at the end. There are lots
of choices of colors and materials to select from. If this is your
first "G" the the "Slender
G-Spot" is a good choice.
Eggs
- Bullets Vibes
The
only difference between and "Egg Vibe" and a "Bullet
Vibe" is the shape. These are designed for women to be inserted
in the vagina or pressed against the clitoris. Even though small
they pack a powerful punch and can be quite stimulating.
Anal
Vibes
There are special vibrators
made specifically for anal insertion. "Anal
Vibrators" are smaller and designed thinner or in a diamond shape.
They can stimulate the anal opening, the rectum or the prostrate.
Most anal vibrators are attached to a battery pack and run on either "AA"
or "C" batteries. If you are considering anal stimulation for your pleasure
remember that lots of "Lubricant" is required.
Also us a "Condom" on the anal vibrator if you
are going to share it with a partner.
Waterproof
If
you want to use a vibrator in the bath tub, shower, hot tub or for any
kind of water play you will need to purchase a "Waterproof
Vibrator". If your vibrator doesn't specifically say that it
is waterproof - it isn't. Again we caution never use an electrical
powered or regular battery powered vibrator in water. An electric
vibrator can cause electric shock and the battery variety (while not as
hazardous to your health) will short out and corrode.
Still
Confused?
If,
after you have considered all the facts and you're still confused about
which vibrator to purchase perhaps a "Vibrator Kit" would be right for
you. A kit provides lots of variety and many vibrator accessories
to experiment with. We have lots of choices - "Kits
For Women", "Kits For Men", "Kits
For Couples", "Anal Kits" and kits designed
specifically for "Body Massage". |
