Care and Cleaning of Vibrators
Receiving Your Vibrator.
When your receive your vibrator, the first thing you are going to need to do before you put it to use is to clean it properly.  Directions for cleaning the various types of vibrators: battery, electric, water-proof are explained below.

Battery Operated.
If your vibrator is battery operated make sure the batteries are charged before inserting them into the battery compartment.  If batteries are designed to work side-by-side, they should be placed with the positive (+) and negative (-) sides in opposite directions.  If there are two or three batteries in a row, the the positive (+) sides should be facing all in the same direction.  Make sure batteries make a firm contact with the  vibrator battery contacts and screw the cap on tightly.  Never allow the batteries or any internal vibrator mechanisms to get wet.  It's a good idea to remove the batteries and store separately when the vibrator is not in use.  This will prevent any corroding on the vibrator motor.  If the vibrator is not working properly try taking an eraser and rubbing it over the battery tips to try and make a better connection.

Electric Vibrator.
Never use an electric plug-in vibrator around water.  Any contact with water can create a severe electrical shock.  Always use the same precautions with and electric vibrator that you would use with any other electrical appliance.

Condoms.
The easiest way to keep your vibrator clean is to use a condom.  Even if you are the only user it will prevent the spread of any kind of bacteria.  If you are using the vibrator for stimulation of the vaginal and anal area then a condom is an absolute MUST!  Also, always use a condom when sharing toys.  Learn more about condoms here.

Lubricants.
Most adult toys feel better when used with a personal lubricant.  Water-based lubricants work best for most uses.  If you are planning on using a waterproof vibrator under water then a silicone based lubricant will work best. Find out "The Lowdown on Lubes" here.

Cleaning.
There are two types of vibrators - waterproof and non-waterproof.  If you own the waterproof variety then the vibrator can be easily cleaned with soap and warm water.  If the vibrator is not waterproof then you have to be very careful not to get water in or around batteries or the motor.   NEVER immerse a non-waterproof vibrator in water. To properly clean your vibrator make sure you get all the crevices and ridges. Alcohol can be used on hard plastic vibrators but avoid using alcohol or alcohol based products on rubber, as they may dry out and damage the surface. We recommend Adult Toy Cleaner  for the best care of your adult toys.  Clean your vibrator following each use.  DO NOT submerge your vibrator in water unless it is waterproof.  NEVER dip electric (plug-in) vibrators in water.  Don't get water into the battery compartment of your vibe or you could damage the motor and other parts.  If you do happen to get the inside of the vibrator wet, open it up; take out the batteries and blow dry the interior until completely dry. Wipe off the batteries thoroughly. Leave the vibrator opened with the batteries out over night. Always make sure that the toy is dry before putting away. Also it is a good idea to let your toys air dry rather than toweling them off.

Tips On Use.
We can't say this enough!  If you are using a vibrator in one area of the body make sure that you clean it properly before you use in on another area of the body. Do not put anything directly in or around your genital area after it has been in another women's vagina. This is the easiest way to spread vaginal infections and STDs.   This is when using a condom comes in handy.  If you're using the vibrator with a partner, clean before sharing.  The ultimate is to have an individual vibrator for each person.

Keeping It Working.
Vibrators need to be handled carefully - a drop onto a hard surface will almost always cause them to break.  If you have an electric vibe, bending or mashing the cord can cause a short.  If your vibrator starts to work intermittently, you have a short in the wire and it is best to discard the vibrator.  If you have a waterproof vibrator make sure that you have the waterproofing ring placed properly.  You can do this by putting the vibrator under water and then opening it for a visual inspection of the battery pack.  Even with excellent care, the less expensive vibrators will not last as long as the more expensive models.
